The start point for the best source of fleet information

Awards 2009 - MPV: Ford Galaxy

Date: 27 January 2009

Galaxy

Ford's Galaxy is fast making this category its own with the third win in a row for the full-size seven seater.

The 'new' Galaxy is now two years old, but still looks as fresh as ever, and this year saw the introduction of new engines and a new automatic gearbox, something of an essential in some sectors of the MPV market.

In 2008 the option of an auto gearbox for the 2.0 TDCI plus a powerful 175PS 2.2-litre diesel engine were added to the line-up while the 2.0-litre diesel was tweaked to fall into the sub-161g/km capital allowance band, making the car even more attractive to business drivers. Some fleets are now only allowing cars in the lower band onto their choice lists, so a full-size MPV is a real boon.

These improvements have seen sales to fleet increase from just more than 5250 to well in excess of 6500 in 2008. That's an increase of nearly 25% and it comes in a sector that's down 11%. Impressive stuff.
