Awards 2010 - Small 4x4: Audi Q5

Date: 26 January 2010

The world of small 4x4s remained competitive this year, with the introduction of a new player in the form of Volvo's XC60, yet the Audi Q5 held station above its Swedish rival and established players like the BMW X3, the Land Rover Freelander and BusinessCar's 2008 small 4x4 champion, the Honda CR-V.

In its first full year of sales, having arrived in the UK towards the end of 2008, almost 1900 Q5s found their way into the hands of business drivers. And that was without what could well be the most popular model, the 143PS 2.0 TDI, introduced late last year, as a diesel price entry point at under £27,000 alongside the entry petrol 2.0 180PS TFSI version.

Life will get even more interesting for the Q5 later this year when it becomes Audi's first full hybrid model, due to be on-sale not much more than 12 months from now.
