The start point for the best source of fleet information

Green van man

Date: 29 April 2008

There was a definite green theme to this month's CV Show. No surprises there.

More amazing was how much more advanced the light commercial vehicle market is in terms of green credentials compared to the car market.

The number of either fully or partially (hybrid) electric vans on offer was particularly impressive.

Speaking to several of the manufacturers displaying green vans it's clear there's a huge market within fleets for commercial vehicles with lower environmental impact.

Demand is such that some delivery companies have been trying to buy-up entire production runs of some vehicles to lock-out the competition and get a green lead on their rivals.

Admittedly, vans are designed to be customised, but if the car market could follow suit as quickly, we'd be further ahead than a few hybrids and stop-start technology.
