Awards 2008 - Small 4x4: Honda CR-V
Date:
22 January 2008
A host of new models released into the small 4x4 market in the past year or so has made for fierce competition, a trend mirrored in the voting for this category.
In the past year or so there's been a new Toyota RAV4, new Land Rover Freelander (last year's winner) and a facelifted BMW X3 for the winning Honda CR-V to fend off - itself only just over a year old.
This tough competition makes the CR-V's win even more impressive. The car is laden with kit, including bendy headlights, clever cruise control, anti-skid control and even a collision mitigation system to keep drivers as safe as possible. A massive boot, comfy ride and good handling are also core values of the CR-V.
It's not only popular and a winner here thanks to your votes, but it's a cost winner too. When we first tested the car we concluded "this is the 4x4 for business".
Once again, Honda's 2.2-litre diesel impresses, producing excellent fuel and CO2 figures, helping make the CR-V one of the greenest off-roaders around.
