Peugeot's Prologue concept hints at Qashqai rival

Date: 22 September 2008

Peugeot is unveiling a small off-roader concept that could evolve into the 3008 by 2010.

The Prologue is making its debut at the Paris motor show and is based on the same platform as the 308 hatchback.

Little is known about the concept at the moment, but a Peugeot insider confirmed it is likely to only come in two-wheel drive format. It will be aiming to compete with the likes of front-wheel drive versions of the Nissan Qashqai and Renault's Koleos, rather than the 4x4 Ford Kuga.

A 203PS hybrid engine that limits emissions to just 109g/km is set to power the car, but it's unclear if it will be petrol or diesel.

While it is very much a concept, Peugeot has confirmed another production car is due from the 308 platform, which could be around 12 months away from going on sale.
