Facelifted Mazda MX5 now in showrooms

Date: 09 April 2009

Mazda has put the first of its newly facelifted MX5s into the showrooms.

The two-seater convertible is available from £16,340, for the entry-level 126PS 1.8-litre SE, to £21,690 for the folding hard-top 2.0-litre version with an automatic gearbox.

This facelifted MX5 now offers more toys as standard, with a leather steering wheel and gear knob, alloy wheels and an aux. input now available across the range.

There are four engine and gearbox combinations, with a powershift automatic gearbox available for the first time on an MX5, offered with the 2.0-litre 160PS engine. Customers can also pick from a five- or six-speed manual box with the 2.0-litre engine, or go for the 126PS 1.8-litre in a five-speed manual.

Both engines are available in the classic soft-top version and in the folding hard-top 'Roadster Coupe' version that made its debut with the arrival of the third generation of the MX5.
