Pound-Euro exchange rate hits Audi prices

Date: 29 January 2009

A5

Audi has become the latest manufacturer to be affected by the Pound's weak international position, causing the brand to increase prices across most of its range.

The rise kicks in on 23 February and works out at an average of 2% on the cars affected. Only the S4 Saloon and Avant, A5 Cabriolet, the RS 6 and BusinessCar award winners the Q5 and Q7 escaped the price hike.

Audi says it cannot confirm prices would come down again in the future, saying it can't predict what the exchange rate is going to do.

In an unrelated move, Audi is offering complimentary upgrades on its most popular models in the A3, A4, A5 and A6 ranges. The A3 TDIe and the A5 now get free Sport spec with alloy wheels, sports suspension and sports seats.

The A4 SE gets an Executive boost, now offering a premium sound system and upgraded alloys, while the A6 gets free SE trim.
