BUDGET 2010: £100m pothole pledge

Date: 24 March 2010

The Chancellor Alistair Darling used his 2010 Budget to pledge £100m towards repairing the UK's potholed roads.

The money will be put towards repairing local roads decimated by the winter of bad weather, where snow and ice have led to the break-up of asphalt and a nationwide epidemic of potholes that councils are struggling, both financially and in terms of manpower, to deal with.
