The start point for the best source of fleet information

Manheim veteran buys auctions business

Date: 19 November 2010

Former director of auction firm Manheim's commercial vehicle business Alex Wright has acquired Sussex-based Shoreham Vehicle Auctions.

Wright becomes owner and managing director, and has appointed Alan Agate as operations director and Bob Knowles as sales director. The four-acre site sells around 6000 vehicles per year through 11 auctions a month, with Wright planning to expand that to 10,000 vehicles, partly through the adoption of a higher profile van sale, as well as growing its current fleet vendor base that includes ING Car Lease.

"We felt it was an opportune time for an independent with low overheads to build a presence in the industry," said Wright, who had been with Manheim for 15 years, and was at BCA before that.

"The internet is going to be an important tool and we will be utilising technology to meet the changing dynamics of the current climate."
