2013 Ford Mondeo revealed

Date: 09 January 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Ford has unveiled the 2013 Mondeo at the Detroit Motor Show.

Known as the Fusion in the US, the European spec Mondeo will arrive in the UK in the first quarter of next year but appear in overseas markets beforehand.

Like the Focus, this generation of Mondeo is a 'world car', which means that, despite trim and engine/powertrain changes, it will maintain the same basic appearance in all markets.

Ford has yet to reveal any specific details about the European spec Mondeo, but the American version will be offered with petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid power.

Two EcoBoost and one naturally aspirated petrol engine will be on offer in the US with automatic and manual transmissions and stop-start systems.

Equipment will include a lane keeping system, adaptive cruise control, active park assist and a blind spot detection system. A voice activated control system will also be on offer.

Ford also claims to have improved quality over the outgoing Mondeo and maintains that the next generation model will be one of the most engaging cars to drive in the upper medium segment.
