Mini is to re-enter the van market it vacated in 1982 with a production version of its Clubvan concept.
Insiders point to the new van being on sale within 18 months. A spokeswoman told BusinessCar: “If it does happen, it’d be a niche vehicle.”
Based on the Mini Clubman car, the brand said the van would be the first premium product in the car-derived segment.
The two-seater features a flat load bed, and like the passenger car, includes five doors: two front doors, for driver and passenger, two side-hinged rear doors and a rear-hinged Clubdoor on the offside of the vehicle.
