Budget 2013: September fuel duty rise scrapped

Date: 20 March 2013   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

George Osborne has scrapped the 1.89 pence per litre fuel rise, formerly planned for September.

In today's Budget, he said: "The Government has foregone 6 billion of revenue in fuel duty to date.

"I am cancelling this September's fuel duty rise altogether. Petrol will now be 13 pence per litre cheaper [than it would have been with previously planned rises]

"That works out to £7 less every time you fill up a Vauxhall Astra or Ford Focus"
