BMW reveals 2-series Active Tourer

Date: 27 February 2014   |   Author: Tristan Young

BMW is to enter the mini-MPV market with the 2-series Active Tourer.

The new five-seat mini-MPV, similar in size to a Renault Scenic, will initially be offered with the 136hp 1.5-litre petrol engine from the new Mini or a 2.0-litre 150hp diesel that is capable of 68.9mpg and 109g/km CO2.

Despite recently changing to use even-number name designations for the sporty coupe and convertible derivatives of its odd-numbered mainstream saloon and estate cars, the 2-series name will be used for this MPV.

It will also be the first BMW-badged front-wheel drive car when it goes on sale in September; however, it will be joined by an all-wheel drive version at the end of 2014.
