Fiat debuts 2015 500X crossover at Paris motor show

Date: 02 October 2014   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Fiat has unveiled its new 500X crossover at the Paris motor show. It is due in the UK in the second quarter of 2015.

Pricing and final specifications plus economy and emissions details are due to be announced closer to the launch. A longer, more rugged version of the 500X is also being offered.

A range of petrol and diesel engines powers both models.

Diesel and front-wheel drive-wise, they powered by a 95hp 1.3-litre unit with a five-speed manual gearbox.

They will also be offered with a 1.6-litre unit pushing out 120hp. A 140hp 2.0-litre engine is offered, but only in four-wheel drive format. The latter is also available in a four-wheel drive format with a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

Petrol versions of the 500X are either equipped with a 110hp 1.6-litre engine with a five-speed manual 'box or a 140hp 1.4-litre turbo engine mated to either a six-speed twin-clutch gearbox or six-speed manual.

A 170hp 1.4-litre turbo unit mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission powers the petrol all-wheel drive version of the 500X.

Technology-wise, both models will be offered with Fiat's Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system.

Offered in 5-inch or 6-inch varieties, the systems feature Bluetooth, aux-in and USB connectivity and can be operated using steering wheel remote controls and voice activation technology.
