Skoda has revealed the first official images of its new Fabia ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Skoda is unable to confirm further details on specifications and prices, but did say the new model would go on sale in the UK early next year.

Prices are likely to start near £10,000 and the Fabia will no doubt inherit some engines from the recently revised Polo range.

Expect the new Fabia to come with VW Group's three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol, as well as a 1.2-litre petrol in 88bhp and 109bhp power outputs.

There is also likely to be a diesel Greenline model which will push further improvements in CO2, with speculation stating that it will be close to 80g/km CO2. The current 1.2-litre TDI Greenline Fabia has a CO2 output of 88g/km and is capable of 83.1mpg. Skoda has said engineers have improved efficiency by 17%.

The new Fabia will have a larger boot and the interior is both wider and longer. There will be 10 new 'simply clever' features on the new Fabia, including the ability to link Android smartphones to the car's infotainment system.

The Czech brand is adding more customisable options for the next Fabia with 15 different body colour options and customers can choose contrasting colours for the roof, rims and exterior mirrors.

More details will be available at the Paris Motor Show at the start of October.
