Lexus unveils new NX crossover

Date: 25 April 2014   |   Author: Martin Gurdon

Lexus used the recent Beijing motor show to premiere production versions of its NX compact sports utility model.

Conceived as a rival to lifestyle 4x4s such as the Range Rover Evoque, the NX uses a variety of styling elements that are becoming familiar on Lexus's latest saloon offerings, including a deep triangulated grill, body side scallops and arrow-like, LED tail lamp clusters.

Inside, the NX continues the ergonomic ideas found on models such as the IS300.

As with its bigger RX 4x4 sibling, the NX is not being launched with diesel engines; instead, it uses a mix of petrol 2.0 and petrol-electric hybrid powertrains, with European sales concentrated on the latter when the car arrives next year.
