Mazda has confirmed its long expected CX-3 small crossover will go into production.

The new model, which will be a rival to the Nissan Juke, will be revealed at the LA Motor Show on 21 November.

Mazda had been hinting at expanding its CX range to have a model which sits below the CX-5 in the fast growing small SUV segment and this new car will feature the latest generation of the Japanese firm's Skyactiv efficiency technology.

The CX-3 will sit on the same platform as the new Mazda 2 and is expected to come with the same engines, including a 104hp 1.5 Skyactiv diesel and a 113hp 1.5 Skyactiv-G petrol.

The CX-3 joins a busy product launch period for Mazda, which will also add a new Mazda2 and MX-5 to its line-up next year.

Mazda has not confirmed efficiency figures for the new CX-3 or an official on sale date but expect more information to be revealed at the LA show next month.
