Renault annouces UK pricing and spec for third-gen Twingo

Date: 18 August 2014   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Renault's new five-door only Twingo will be priced from £9495 when it goes on sale in the UK in late September.

The third-generation model will be powered by a choice of two engines from launch - a 1.0-litre 70hp three-cylinder normally aspirated engine and a 0.9-litre 90hp turbocharged unit. All models are rear-wheel drive.

Three trim levels - Expression, Play, Dynamique - will be offered, and each will be available to order with either engine from launch.

Both engines fall beneath the magic 100g/km CO2 barrier; the Dynamique Sce being the cleanest in the range emitting 95g/km of CO2 and the 90hp version emitting 99g/km CO2.

The cheapest Twingo should undercut its nearest rival, the Fiat 500, by around £500. The most expensive model - the Dynamique Energy Tce 90 will cost £11,695 before options.

Renault will be hoping that the new Twingo will be as popular as the first generation, which while it wasn't sold in the UK, became a well-recognised design.
