Volvo reveals first pictures of 60g/km XC90

Date: 25 July 2014

Volvo has released a series of teaser images of the forthcoming XC90, which it claims will be the most powerful and lowest-emitting SUV available when it goes on sale later this year.

Exact details have yet to be revealed, but the firm has revealed that the top-spec version will be a plug-in hybrid, badged T8. The front wheels will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a supercharger and a turbocharger, while an 80hp electric motor will drive the rear wheels.

Volvo is claiming a total of 400hp, CO2 emissions of around 60g/km and 25 miles of electric-only range.

A series of the firm's Drive-e clean petrol and diesel engines will also be available including a 225hp D5 diesel promising official fuel consumption of 47mpg and a 190hp D4 turbo diesel engine with 56mpg.
