BT orders 1000 Ford vans in new fleet deal

Date: 31 March 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Telecoms company BT has ordered 1000 new Ford vans in the last three months. The new fleet deal includes around 500 Transit Customs, 200 Transit vans and 300 Fiesta vans.

Ford claimed the order is part of one of the biggest fleet regenerations undertaken by BT and comes after a review of its needs for the next seven years.

Some of the vans will replace existing customer service vans and others will be used to meet extra fleet demand.

The Fiesta Vans will be used by engineers based in telephone exchanges and the long wheelbase, high-roof Transit Customs will be used to carry equipment by customer service engineers.

Bri-Stor Systems and Bott are undertaking the conversion work on the vans for BT.

"This is a major order and a tough one to fulfil in the timescale and Ford is delighted to have been able to meet BT's requirements in terms of speed of delivery and quality of product," said Ian Watson, Ford manager of direct sales.
