Date: 28 January 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Car club Co-wheels is taking delivery of 80 new Toyota models as it expands its fleet.

The firm operates on-street parking around the UK and also provides fleet management services for organisations.

The cars have been ordered through Toyota and Lexus Fleet Services. The new fleet is a mixture of new Aygo, Yaris Hybrid and plug-in Prius models.

The vehicles were acquired on two-to-three year renewal cycles, are finished in the firm's livery and are equipped with a telematics system.

The firm said members can book the club's cars at any time and can access vehicles by swiping a personal smartcard, giving keyless entry. The club said it could track trip data and vehicle status through the smartcard via a cellular network.

"Our members are attracted by the environmental benefits that can be achieved by using hybrid and low-emissions vehicles, and we see Toyota as the leading provider of these vehicles. The success we have witnessed to date gives us reason to think that our relationship with Toyota is set become stronger in the future," said Richard Falconer, Co-wheels director.
