A Lancashire dairy has taken delivery of four Nissan e-NV200s. The vans are used to make deliveries to homes and businesses around Liverpool.
Grimshaw Lane Dairy said it is saving £900 a month in fuel costs and is planning on replacing its two remaining diesel vans with the What Van? Green Award-winning electric Nissan.
The firm said residents' morale is "at a high" thanks to deliveries through the night being made in near-silence. The firm claimed its driver morale is at a high too.
Nissan said the e-NV200 costs two pence per mile to run, and it costs £1200 less than a conventional diesel to run over four years.
The Japanese firm claims its van's capacity is class-leading at 4.2 cubic metres with a payload of 703kg.
"Switching to the Nissan e-NV200 was a no brainer for us. Basically the savings we're making on the fuel have paid for the contract hire on the vans and we'll be saving on the maintenance too," said Andrew Brown, managing director, Grimshaw Lane Dairy.
"We've effectively got four new vans for what we'd have been spending on fuel," said Brown.
