Fiat's Focus rival to carry Tipo name

Date: 13 October 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Fiat has confirmed that its forthcoming lower medium hatchback will carry the Tipo name when it launches in the UK next year.

The Tipo is based on the Aegea saloon, which was revealed earlier this year at the Istanbul motor show, and is set to go on sale later tin 2015.

Fiat is still deciding whether or not the saloon version will come to the UK.

Four engines will power the Tipo hatchback and estate - which is expected to arrive in the UK next September - two petrols and two diesels, with power outputs ranging from 95hp to 120hp.

Both the hatchback and estate models are expected to be shown at the Geneva motor show in March, BusinessCar understands.

A Fiat insider told BusinessCar that it is fairly likely that the saloon model will come to the UK. The saloon measures 4.5m in length, 1.78m in width, and a boot capacity of 510 litres.

The Tipo will be equipped with the firm's Uconnect media system, Bluetooth, a rear parking camera and a TomTom satnav.
