Audi has shown its five-door Prologue Avant concept ahead of its launch at the Geneva motor show next week.

Powering the concept is a 3.0-litre plug-in hybrid diesel engine. It produces 353hp and the electric motor - which is integrated into the gearbox produces 100kW. No CO2 emissions have been revealed, but Audi said the vehicle can return 176mpg.

It hints at the future design of Audi estates. The concept features laser lighting at the front, which Audi said "opens up new opportunities in design and technology." The light is decomposed into a number of tiny pixels resulting in many distribution processes.

Inside, the front of the dashboard is made up three touch displays, while the car features two next-generation high resolution OLED screens, which provides information and entertainment.

Audi said the drivers and passengers could be identified by their smartphones. It said the software could adjust the seats and climate control settings based on their preferences.
