Date: 29 May 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Four vehicles in the UK are affected by a faulty drivers' airbag, while 35,000 vehicles are affected by a faulty passenger airbag.

It affects cars built between 2001 and 2010.

The airbags are manufactured by Takata Corp. Last week, it said that 53 million cars globally from Honda, Fiat Chrysler and BMW are affected.

So far, Honda is the only manufacturer to confirm the number of UK cars affected by the recall.

A Honda spokesman told BusinessCar that last week the company was informed of a defect by Takata. "We then told the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) immediately."

The spokesman said the recalls in the UK are of a preventative and investigate nature and that the airbag inflator will be replaced.
