Leaseplan rolls out mobility card to Belgium

Date: 30 June 2015   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Leaseplan has rolled out its all-in-one mobility card service to Belgium. Known as XXImo, the card allows employees to pay for a range of travel options comprising car share and rental; train, tram and bus fares; bike rental; parking; and electric vehicle charging.

The UK's second-largest leasing company and the biggest in the world initially launched the service in its homeland of the Netherlands in 2013 and it became available to the firm's Belgian clients in June.

Businesses using the card can tailor the services for which the employee is able to pay depending on their needs and it can also be issued to staff without a regular company vehicle.

The firm has also launched an app that shows a user's monthly travel budget, has a journey planning function, and displays the location of nearby taxi ranks, train and charging stations and parking areas.
Director of driver, vehicle and procurement services at Leaseplan Belgium, Luc Norga, said: "Society is rapidly changing due to. the fact that employees work at different locations more frequently.

The XXImo platform provide[s] employees with a fully personalised mobility offering that is aligned with current developments."

A Leaseplan UK spokesperson said the firm was "evaluating the best bits of what other Leaseplan regions are doing" but neither confirmed nor denied such a service would appear in the UK.
