TomTom launches map feedback tool

Date: 29 January 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

TomTom has launched a map feedback tool aimed at business users, allowing its userbase to integrate the firm's maps into existing products and services.

The telematics giant said the tool - known as Map Input Tracker API - allows users to share map feedback via smartphones, laptops, tablets and in-dash navigation units, to help develop higher-quality maps.

TomTom said the tool would help the sat-nav maker shorten the time between detecting changes in the real world and updating the map databases.

"TomTom is one of the first to use crowd sourcing to detect map changes. The launch of this Map Input Tracker API means TomTom can now deliver high quality, real-time map updates to customers faster than any other mapmaker on the market," claimed Charles Caultey, managing director of TomTom Maps.
