Jaguar adds 4wd option to XF

Date: 12 January 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Jaguar has added an all-wheel-drive option to its XF executive saloon, due showrooms from the spring and costing from £36,350, £1800 more than equivalently-specced RWD XFs.

The all-wheel-drive system is mated to the company's 180hp 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, which emits 129g/km of CO2 and returns 57.7mpg.

The RWD XF emits 114g/km of CO2 and returns 65.7mpg.

The drivetrain originates from the company's F-type sports car and is also featured in its new XE upper medium saloon. Jaguar said the system aims to deliver a rear-wheel-drive feel, but can transfer torque to the front wheels when required for improved traction.

"Together with the performance and desirability our customers expect from Jaguar, the all-new XF's efficiency, usability and low total cost of ownership are already proving very attractive to business users worldwide," said Andy Goss, director of group sales operations at Jaguar Land Rover. "The XF accounted for almost 29 per cent of Jaguar's total global fleet volume in the first six months of this financial year, and the introduction of 180hp diesel all-wheel drive model will help to make it even more successful."
