Mercedes E-class coupe priced from £40,135

Date: 21 December 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Pricing for the new Mercedes-Benz E-class coupe has been announced, with prices starting at £40,135.

The new model is on sale now, with first examples set to arrive in the UK from April.

From launch, two petrol engines and a diesel will be offered, with the 194hp 2.0-litre diesel in the E220d being the most frugal, emitting 119g/km of CO2 and returning 61.4mpg on the official cycle.

That places it in the 25% Benefit-in-Kind tax bracket for 2017/18, which comes into force next April.

Petrol-wise, the 245hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder in the E300 Coupe - from £41,025 - emits 160g/km of CO2 and delivers up to 40.4mpg. At the top of the range is the £50,775 four-wheel drive 333hp twin-turbo 3.0-litre E400 that emits 189g/km of CO2 and returns 33.6mpg. These sit in the 31 and 36% 2017/18 BiK tax brackets respectively

Initially, just the one trim level is offered - AMG Line - with standard equipment including LED headlights and daytime running lights. Standard kit also includes a parking assistance feature, an 8.4-inch infotainment screen, heated front seats and a braking assistance system. The E400 model gets the larger 12.3-inch screen with an uprated infotainment system, as well as adaptive air-suspension as standard.

Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist driver assistance features are optionally available for £595. Meanwhile, the £1,695 Driver Assistance pack includes an autonomous emergency braking system, steering assistance and a lane-change tool.
