New Mercedes E-class estate priced from £37,935

Date: 25 July 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Mercedes has confirmed its new E-class estate will be priced from £37,935 when it arrives in the UK in October - an increase of £2000 compared with the saloon.

Initially, only the entry-level E220d will be available, with a more powerful diesel 350d and the potent AMG E 43 petrol joining the rest of the range later in the year.

The E220d is powered by a 194hp 2.0-litre unit which returns 67.3mpg and emits 109g/km of CO2.

Mercedes said the E-class's boot is capable of carrying 670 litres with the rear seats up (up 70 litres on the previous model) and 1820 litres (up 35 litres on the old model).

As standard, SE models come with a satnav, a powered tailgate, parking sensors and reversing camera, DAB radio  and 17-inch alloy wheels.

For an extra £2495, the AMG Line adds AMG exterior styling features, 19-inch alloy wheels, AMG sports pedal  and a steering wheel wrapped in nappa leather.

Safety-wise, the E-class is fitted with active brake assist as standard, as well as a semi-autonomous cruise control system which can work at speeds up to 130mph.

The E-class saloon and estate also introduces the firm's Remote Parking Pilot program which allows the vehicle to moved in and out of garages or parking spaces remotely by using a smartphone app.
