Seat to launch Ibiza-based crossover next year

Date: 29 September 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Seat has confirmed at the Paris motor show that it will launch a new crossover next year called the Arona

Although details are thin on the ground, it is likely the new model will sit below the Ateca crossover in the firm's line-up in order to rival the likes of the Nissan Juke, and will use the lower medium Ibiza platform.

The brand also announced its intention to launch the fifth-generation Ibiza and to update the Leon next year.

Meanwhile, the firm announced it has set up an 'Easy Mobility Team' in order to respond to the challenges of digitization, electrification, connected cars and new mobility services with the team working in three main areas - digitalization, customer experience, and business development.

In order to improve the customer experience, the company has launched the Seat Live Store, which allows customers to virtually look at personalised vehicles, while Seat has also signed an agreement with Spanish mobility start-up, Conector, to launch a start-up company which will specalise in the car industry and mobility solutions.

"The Leon, the Ibiza and the new Arona, together with the Ateca, are going to strengthen Seat from a commercial, financial and brand image standpoint. 2017 is going to be a very special year for Seat," said Luca de Meo, president of Seat.
