Smart Driver Club launches business mileage audit tool

Date: 26 July 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Connected car technology company Smart Driver Club has launched a tool which can automatically allow motorists to download business and personal mileage logs directly from the car and onto an expenses form.

Known as Business Miles, users are able to tag journeys as either business or personal, while the app also allows users to input business hours to ensure automatic tagging of miles driven.

The company connects cars via a plug-in device that slots in behind the steering column, and the subscription costs £6.60 a month.

As well as the business and personal mileage tracker, the service also offers crash alerts, breakdown recovery support, a stolen vehicle tracker and a car valuation service.

"We've worked out drivers can easily waste five days a year working out mileage claims equating to at least £500 in the cost of their time, and that's not factoring in loss of money through inaccurate mileage information," said Penny Searless, CEO of Smart Driver Club."Business Miles cuts the time it can take to complete expenses forms, improves the accuracy so that drivers don't miss out and guarantees all information necessary for HMRC is provided in full."

"This is the first in a number of enhancements we are making to give drivers much greater control over their car costs and their safety through connectivity," she added.
