Volvo adds R-Design trim to S90 and V90

Date: 22 June 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Volvo has revealed the new performance-inspired R-Design variants of its S90 saloon and V90 estate.

Visually, the R-Design models are separated from the rest of the range by a new front end design which features spoiler-integrated fog lights and different grille.

Inside, meanwhile, the R-Design models feature "unique deco trim" as well as a sports seats and an interior illumination package.

Volvo has not confirmed which engines will power the R-Design models, but both the S90 and V90 are equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel engine which produces 190hp or 235hp.

R-Design models typically cost about the same as the Inscription offering, so expect the S90 variant to cost from around £36,000 for the lower-powered model and £43,000 for the higher-powered variant.

Volvo currently produces R-Design variants for the S60, V40, V60, XC60 and XC90 models.

"R-Design delivers an edge to our elegant estate and sedan models in our 90 Series, with a winning combination of a sportier, more responsive drive with clearly visible performance styling," said Björn Annwall, senior vice president of marketing, sales and customer service at Volvo.
