BMW scores a hat-trick at 2017 BusinessCar Awards

Date: 15 September 2017

BusinessCar's first-ever awards evening proved to be a big night for BMW. The firm picked up three key awards including New Company Car of the Year and Fleet Manufacturer of the Year, both voted for by BusinessCar readers.

The awards were presented by comedian Zoe Lyons at last night's black tie ceremony. Around 250 people from across the industry attended the evening and helped celebrate what has been a great year in fleet.

Another big winner on the night was Ogilvie Fleet, which walked away with two awards; Leasing Company of the Year - up to 25,000 vehicles, and the highly competitive Customer Service Award. Volkswagen also picked up two awards; the Up won Best City Car and the Golf triumphed in the Best Lower-medium category.

One of the biggest awards of the night, Fleet Manager of the Year, was won by David Fisher of Rexel, who impressed the judges after introducing a number of key initiatives this year that have delivered significant results.

One of the most hotly contested categories, Best Green Car, was won by the new Hyundai Ioniq, while Audi walked away with the Best Compact Premium Car and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class won in the Best Premium Car category.

Debbie Wood, BusinessCar's editor, said: "Year one was always going to be a challenge, but thanks to some hard work within the BusinessCar team and the support of our fantastic sponsors and judges, I'm delighted with how the evening went. We have some really worthy winners this year."

The BusinessCar Awards were judged by a panel of industry experts, while a selection of fleet managers helped to decide the overall winners in the headline award categories. Well-known motoring editors, experts in residual values and the chairmen of both ICFM and ACFO also joined the panel.
