EV pilot programme announced by LeasePlan

Date: 13 November 2017

LeasePlan has launched an electric vehicle pilot programme for corporate companies as part of its strategy to achieve zero emissions from its fleet by 2030.

The new programme is designed to make it as easy as possible for companies that want to make the switch to low-emission vehicles, allowing customers to choose how many electric vehicles (EVs) form part of the pilot.

LeasePlan will also facilitate the implementation of charging infrastructure at customers' offices and employees' homes, and, where possible, work with partners to ensure the infrastructure is supplied with 100% renewable energy.

Available in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and the UK from December, the full pilot is also scheduled to be rolled-out in Italy, Spain and Sweden in the first quarter of 2018.

The new initiative forms part of LeasePlan's sustainability strategy, which also includes the LeasePlan Electric Vehicle Experience Centre and transitioning the company's own employee fleet to EVs by 2021. LeasePlan is also a founding partner of EV100, a new global business initiative launched by the Climate Group.

LeasePlan CEO Tex Gunning said: "We see an increasing demand for EV fleets from corporate companies that want to lower their overall emissions and help tackle climate change. As part of our 2030 Sustainability Strategy, LeasePlan is fully committed to helping these customers make the switch.

"We're therefore delighted to be launching our EV pilot programme for large corporate organisations here at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn. Making the switch to an electric fleet is one of the simplest ways for companies to rapidly lower their emissions and help tackle climate change - and we are committed to facilitating those companies that want to make the transition."
