Experienced fleet chiefs launch independent incident management company

Date: 10 March 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

A new incident management company has been founded by well-known members of the fleet industry with almost 100 years worth of collective industry knowledge and experience.

Called Horizon Vehicle Management, the company, led by award-winning fleet manager Paul Holmes - who currently works as a director of fleet consultancy firm Fleet Managers' Friend - claimed the new business would deliver cost savings and reduce vehicle downtime for fleets.

The company is targeting fleets operating company cars and commercial vehicles with repairs being carried out by a nationwide network of independent and franchised garages.

As well as vehicle repairs, Horizon Vehicle Management will offer claims and risk management services, and the sourcing of replacement vehicles.

In addition, the company said its cloud-based claims management system offers real-time updates to vehicle repairs.

Other senior managers include:

Mike Norwood, who has spent 10 years working within the insurance and motor claims management industries, and is a director of the business.

Paul Goddard, who has spent 35 years working with body repair businesses and will be in charge of maintaining relationships garages.

Danny Flowers, who has a 10-year career in motor claims management, and will work as the firm's business development manager.

"What is important to fleet managers is getting their vehicles back on the road as quickly as possible following an incident. However, our fleet industry knowledge tells us that is not necessarily to the benefit of existing incident management providers," said Holmes. "At Horizon we work collectively with the customer and work provider to ensure the relevant job is processed and funded in the most effective way possible for all concerned. We always take into account direct and indirect costs. For example, by spending an extra £50 on a repair a fleet may get the vehicle back a day earlier, therefore saving replacement costs and lost opportunity costs. We are not about just the cost of repairing bent metal."
