Facelifted BMW 4 Series revealed

Date: 17 January 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

BMW has revealed a facelifted version of its 4 Series sporting car ahead of it going on sale later this week.

Three diesel and three petrol engines are offered, with emissions from 106g/km of CO2.

Of particular interest to fleets will be the 420d, which is priced from £33,395 for the convertible and Gran Coupe variants. Powered by a 190hp 2.0-litre diesel unit, emissions are as low as 106g/km of CO2 for the Gran Coupe and Convertible when fitted with an automatic gearbox, and 114g/km of CO2 in the Coupe.

Depending on the variant, the 4 Series can be equipped with either a six-speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic transmission.

The front end of the car has been restyled to feature a larger air intake than before, while the rear end has been redesigned to make the car look crisper and more powerful. LED daytime running lights have also been included in the standard specification.

Inside, the 4 Series features new chrome surrounds while the centre console has been finished in a black gloss paint, and the leather steering wheel has been re-lined to offer a better grip.

The 4 Series can also be optionally equipped with Apple CarPlay, while the company is offering wireless charging options for the first time on the sporting car.

BMW has also upgraded its navigation system, which allows drivers to move the icons and menus they use most to the first screen, while a digital cockpit - which replaces the instrument panel with a screen - can be optioned for the first time.

The 4 Series costs from £32,525.
