Garrett Emmerson to leave Transport for London

Date: 28 March 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Transport for Transport has announced that Garrett Emmerson will be leaving the organisation after nine years.

Emmerson held the role of chief operating officer for surface transport for the last eight years. Prior to that, he worked as TfL's director of strategy and policy.

He was responsible for keeping London moving, overseeing the operation, management and investment in the Transport for London road network, traffic signals, as well as traffic, incident and event management.

Leon Daniels, managing director of surface transport at TfL said his former colleague is to "move on and seek new career opportunities and challenges elsewhere".

"During his time at TfL, Garrett has effectively managed the performance of the organisation to keep London's road network moving, introduced our nationally ground-breaking roadworks Lane Rental Scheme, delivered the Roads Modernisation Programme, overseen the creation of the Cycle Superhighways, transformed the cycle hire scheme and played a key part in the delivery of the fantastically successful London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games," Daniels said.

Emmerson's replacement has not been announced at this stage.
