ICFM event to focus on upcoming salary sacrifice changes

Date: 20 February 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

The ICFM has announced the first of its 'masterclass' events will focus on the changes to car salary sacrifice schemes and cash for car allowance rules.

Set to take place on 22 March at the RAC's operations centre alongside the M6 in the West Midlands, the event aims to explain the new rules and dispel any myths surrounding the upcoming changes.

The new Government rules mean employees opting for a salary sacrifice arrangement or taking a company car in lieu of a cash alternative will pay tax on the higher of the existing company car benefit value forgone from 6 April.

Speakers at the event include Alison Argall, business development director at Tusker; Claire Evans, head of fleet consultancy at Zenith; and Dan Rees, associate director at Deloitte Car and Mobility Consulting.

"There is a definite appetite, according to our research, among fleet decision-makers for masterclasses on current key and complex issues that deliver in-depth insight and practical advice," said Peter Eldridge, ICFM director. "From the feedback we have received, the Government's changes to car salary sacrifice rules is a major issue for many employers and employees.

"ICFM's first masterclass will dispel the rumour and speculation with experts delivering the facts. Fleet decision-makers cannot afford not to attend," he added.

A second masterclass event is expected to take place in the middle of the year and will focus on operational road risk. The cost to attend the event on 22 March is £99 for ICFM members and £135 for non-members.
