Latest Brake fleet seminar to focus on driver distractions

Date: 17 May 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Road safety charity Brake is running a free webinar for fleets on eliminating distractions from technology in vehicles.

Taking place on 7 June, the event is being delivered by Brake Professional, the charity's fleet-facing arm, and will see transport safety experts and fleet risk managers discussing the addictiveness and distractions of various devices.

In addition, case studies will be presented, including one about banning all at-wheel phone use, including hands-free equipment, while speakers will present a look at the consequences of driver distraction.

"Drivers who use a hands-free or hand-held device at the wheel have been found to be four times more likely to be in a crash than drivers who are not distracted," said Zari'aat Masood, professional engagement officer at Brake. "It is vital that fleet managers are eliminating the threat of a crash by implementing strong policies, and I would encourage anyone with responsibility for at-work drivers to register for this crucial webinar."
