Route optimisation software company Route Monkey has created a dedicated EV journey planner website in an attempt to banish 'range anxiety'.
The journey planner optimises routes for electric vehicles by planning around working charging points, negating the need for EV drivers to plan their routes in advance or search for a plug halfway through a trip.
Called MyRouteMonkey, and co-developed with funding from the Government-backed Scottish Enterprise scheme, the website allows drivers to input their start point, destination and their vehicle model with the planner then calculates a route, including giving instructions on where and when to recharge.
Motorists can also specify how much battery charge they want at the end of the journey, the firm added.
The website is set to launch on 5 May, and a spokesman for Route Monkey told BusinessCar the firm hasn't ruled out producing a smartphone app in the future.
