New Skoda Karoq revealed

Skoda has revealed its replacement of the Yeti at its world premiere in Stockholm.
The compact SUV, based on the same platform as the Seat Ateca and Volkswagen Tiguan, is 4,382 mm long, 1,841 mm wide and 1,605 mm high.
According to the manufacturer, the long wheelbase, which 2,638 mm gives the Karoq a comfortable stance on the road and provides an indication of the generously proportioned interior.
A Skoda spokesperson told BusinessCar the brand expects a higher volume for the Karoq compared to the Yeti. The Karoq's market launch will follow in the second half of 2017 but based on a full year of sales in 2018, Skoda is expecting to sell around 18,000 - 20,000 models. This means the Karoq is expected to have higher sales values than the Yeti, which sold 13,654 last year across retail and fleet.
The spokesperson explained the Karoq will likely have a 50/50 offering between fleet and retail. This is compared to the Yeti which was 60% fleet but of a lower overall volume and the Superb which had a higher fleet proposition of 80%.
Of interest to fleet customers is the inclusion of Skoda Connect, also available in the Skoda Kodiaq, which makes the Karoq 100% connected. Via the app you can remotely lock and unlock the doors, control the headlights and see where the car is parked.
The boot is segment leading, with a capacity of 521 litres with the rear seats in place. This increases to 1,630 litres when the rear seats are folded down.
LED technology is also used for the taillights. The tail lighting with LED technology includes the rear lights, brake lights and fog lights.
The spokesperson told BusinessCar that five engines will be available from launch, four of which are new.
While no details of fleet specific propositions have been released yet for the Karoq such as the SE Tech models offered by the Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq, this could be a possibility after the launch.
