Next ACFO seminar to focus on the rise of fleet admin

Date: 06 July 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

The Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO) has announced its next seminar will discuss increases in fleet admin thanks to the industry changing at an "unprecedented" pace.

Set to take place on 21 September at Plant Oxford, where Mini is based, speakers will include Alison Avo, corporate services relationship manager at the Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency and Sarah Green, head of the Dart Charge service at Highways England.

Other topics that will be discussed during the day includes a wide-ranging tax update - such as the government's consultation on the taxation of benefit-in-kinds and an update on ACFO's call to HMRC to publish Advisory Fuel Rates for plug-in and electric cars - the impact the forthcoming Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure will have on fleets and an update on the lease accounting standards changes that will come into effect from 1 January 2019, which requires leased assets to be reported on company balance sheets.

In addition, the event will conclude with a panel discussion that will look at what impacts Brexit and the general election will have on the fleet industry.

"There is huge uncertainty across the country as a consequence of the Brexit negotiations and following the general election which, allied to major changes in taxation and legislation impacting on the fleet sector means change on a scale that I do not believe the fleet industry has previously seen," said John Pryor, chairman of ACFO. "At the seminar a range of expert speakers will put into context what is happening and aim to draw some conclusions as to the action fleet decision-makers can take to ensure management of their transport and travel operations reflect what is happening and, potentially, what will occur over the weeks, months and years to come."

He added: "Delegates will, we hope, leave the seminar fully briefed on all the changes and with the facts separated from many of the myths that are circulating around the fleet industry."
