Nissan expands fleet team with two new appointments

Date: 19 July 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Nissan has appointed two new additions to its fleet team in order to strengthen its sales operations and increase the firm's market share.

Michael Stewart joins the company in the new role of head of leasing, specialist fleet sales and rental, while Andrew Sellars joins as the firm's new network sales director.

Stewart previously held the role of network sales director at Nissan, while Sellars joins from Volvo, where he most recently held the post of vice-president, commercial operations based in Thailand.

"Nissan is focussed on developing the quality of its market share and our relationships with the UK's leasing companies will be critical to this success," said Stewart. "I'm delighted to be taking on this new role within Nissan and driving performance in line with our fleet sales goals, in what are challenging and fast-moving market conditions."

Sellars said: "With exciting new model launches this year, including the new Qashqai and X-Trail, this is a fantastic time to be joining a very dynamic business. I'm delighted to become part of the Nissan family, and look forward to working closely with the dealers on qualitative sales and high levels of customer satisfaction - all supported by the great added opportunities these new product launches represent."

Darren Payne, sales director at Nissan, said: "With his wealth of network experience I'm delighted to welcome Andrew to the network sales team, and I also congratulate Michael on his new role within the fleet sales team, and thank him for his contribution to accelerating Nissan's sales performance.

"We are now in a great position to meet the challenges and requirements of both the retail and fleet markets, with new models launching into key sectors throughout 2017."

Last year, Nissan made a series of key appointments to grow the corporate team from 51 people to 75, which appeared to pay off as the company grew its true fleet volume by 2.9% in 2016.

"The team restructure is going well and that's part of the reason for the growth in fleet. When you look at our true fleet volumes that have increased, we're pleased with that result. The movement in-house is starting to produce some results for us. We're investing in our products and our people and looking at how we can develop our fleet dealer network," Payne told BusinessCar in March.
