Prestige launches grey fleet driver service

Date: 22 September 2017   |   Author: Debbie Wood

Using the theme 'Get the company car experience for your private car', Prestige Fleet Servicing (Prestige) has launched an online service for grey fleet drivers that aims to offer many of the benefits normally provided exclusively for company car drivers.

Current health and safety regulations stipulate that organisations need robust policies in place to ensure that every grey fleet car is fit for purpose, has a valid MoT, and is insured for appropriate business use, and Prestige see this new system as a solution for fleets.

The services on offer include free collection and delivery, full validation of costs, customer service support and the ability to allow drivers to pay for work via a secure payment method.

Drivers can enter their registration details and call up a series of details that will give them a clear indication of the servicing costs via the firm's website.

The system also allows drivers to access their vehicle history, retrieve invoices and set up prompts for the next service or MOT due dates to enable drivers to ensure their vehicle is regularly maintained.

Prestige commercial director Joe Bhamra said: "Our years of experience in both the B2B and B2C motoring sectors make us the perfect supplier to provide SMR support to those drivers who use their private vehicles for business purposes.

"It is vitally important from a duty of care point of view that grey fleet vehicles are serviced regularly. Companies remain liable for the actions of their employees even if they are driving their own cars on company business. And cars that fail catastrophically through lack of servicing could come back to haunt the employers as well as the employee, especially under the provisions of current legislation such as the Corporate Manslaughter Act.

"Our objective with this new service is to provide grey fleet drivers, and other motorists, with access to competitively priced servicing that will save considerable sums over main dealer servicing costs. That way there can be no excuse for grey fleet drivers not to keep their vehicles regularly serviced and maintained and their duty of care commitments met," he said.
