Records smashed during Q1 at Autorola

Date: 24 April 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

The average price of cars sold through remarketing company Autorola's online portal increased by £638 to £9,621 in the first quarter of this year.

Autorola said this is the highest Q1 price since it began releasing data in 2012, and put the record down to lower average mileage and age.

The average age of used cars sold through the network decreased to a 12-month low of 29 months, while the average mileage dropped by 4,456 to 18,992 miles.

Year-on-year, average values increased by £823, while the average age of stock decreased by four months and the average mileage fell by 2,977.

"A fall in the average mileage and age of used cars on our portal continues to dispell the 'traditional' age and mileage associated with used cars when they enter the used market," said Neil Frost, operations director, Autorola UK. "Strong demand in the used car market from our 2,000 active buyers immediately after Christmas and throughout Q1, driven by increased footfall in the dealerships, has seen average used prices increase further."
