Refreshed Mazda 2 supermini range announced

Updates for the 2017 Mazda 2 range have been announced ahead of the car going on sale on 1 June this year. Two new trim levels - GT and GT Sport - have joined the range, while Mazda has also upgraded the steering and suspension, as well as making some minor interior changes.
The 1.5-litre diesel has been deleted from the range, leaving just the one engine on offer - a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in three states of tune: 75hp, 90hp and 115hp. It's the 90hp engine that's likely to find most favour with fleets, thanks to its combined 62.8mpg figure and CO2 emissions of 105g/km, putting it in the 20% BIK tax band.
Buyers will have the choice of six different trim levels: SE, SE-L, SE-L Nav, Sport Nav, GT and GT Sport. The entry-level 75hp engine is only available in SE and SE-L models, while the 90hp engine is likely to be the most popular engine in the range, encompassing as it does the more popular trim levels: SE-L Nav, Sport Nav and GT. The range-topping 115hp engine is only available in new GT Sport versions.
New standard features across the range include new interior upholstery, a new steering wheel, revised door mirrors with wraparound indicators, and improved sound insulation. Meanwhile, upgrades to SE-L and SE-L Nav versions include LED front foglamps, passenger seat height adjustment and power-folding door mirrors, while Sport Nav versions will come with 16-inch alloys as standard.
The big news when it comes to trim levels, however, is the addition of two new ones: GT and GT Sport. These feature LED headlights, a boot spoiler, 16-inch silver alloy wheels, as well as leather upholstery and a colour head-up display. These models will also be available with two new exclusive paint colours: Deep Crimson Mica and Eternal Blue Mica.
All models will also benefit from the company's G-Vectoring control system that, alongside revised suspension and steering, Mazda hopes will make the car even more engaging to drive.
Orders for the revised Mazda 2 supermini open on 1 June, with prices starting at £12,695.
