With refreshed styling, new equipment levels and some minor interior changes, alterations to the facelifted Skoda Citigo have been announced ahead of the car making its debut at the 2017 Geneva motor show.
Set to be shown off at the year's first major European motor show early next month, the revised car is actually slightly longer than the previous iteration, while the most obvious styling updates are at the front. These include a new bonnet, a redesigned radiator grille, a refreshed front bumper and new fog lights. Meanwhile, models in mid-range SE trim get tinted rear lights.
All models come with LED daytime running lights set within the headlight clusters, while customers will also be able to specify a cornering function that allows the headlights to illuminate further round bends. The 2017 car also benefits from a new design of 15-inch alloy wheel in SE L trim, as well as a new Kiwi Green body colour.
The revised car will be available in five trim levels in the UK - S, SE, SE L, Monte Carlo and Colour Edition - for which full equipment lists have yet to be finalised. There's a redesigned instrument cluster, while higher trim models will also get a two-tone dashboard. Meanwhile, the optional multi-function steering wheel allows the driver to control the stereo and mobile phone without removing their hands from the wheel.
Connectivity options will range from an aux-in socket, to an SD card reader and a USB socket, all the way up to full Bluetooth connectivity. This allows customers to use their mobile phone as the car's onboard infotainment system, thanks to an integrated smartphone holder on the dash.
As before, the Citigo focuses on interior practicality and comes festooned with storage compartments, drinks bottle holders and baggage nets. The new car also comes with what Skoda calls 'Simply Clever' features, including a small umbrella under the front seats and a bag hook on the glove compartment.
The engine range is unchanged, with a choice of two 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engines on offer, producing 60 and 75hp respectively. Both come with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard. Fuel economy is also unchanged, with both models returning up to 68.9mpg on the combined cycle. CO2 emissions are yet to be announced.
Going on sale later in the year, prices for the new car have yet to be revealed, but don't expect these to change much from the current car's £8,440 to £11,335 P11D price range.
