Skoda has added petrol engines to the fleet versions of its Octavia and Superb models.

Available for the SE Tech trim level, the Octavia can be fitted with a115hp 1.0-litre unit, which returns 65.7mpg and emits 108g/km of CO2, as well as a more powerful 1.4-litre 150hp motor.

The Superb, meanwhile, gains the 150hp 1.4-litre unit in the SE Tech trim level.

Both models feature an 8in touchscreen navigation system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a trip computer as standard, with the Octavia including a range of driver assistance systems such as front assist and a pedestrian collision warning tool.

Safety kit on the Superb, meanwhile, includes blind spot detection, traffic jam assist and smart light assist. The interior of the car features wi-fi and phone signal boosters in order to keep drivers synced to work while on the road.

"We have added petrol engines to the Skoda fleet range due to increasing demand from customers," said Henry Williams, head of fleet at Skoda. "Octavia and Superb already offer a formidable package and by adding even more choice we are demonstrating our commitment to respond to the changing market and the needs of our customers."

Around 53% of all Skoda sales come from fleet. The firm ended 2016 10% up year on year in true fleet sales and the arrival of the Kodiaq and facelifted Octavia is expected to further boost sales.

Despite the ongoing economic uncertainties surrounding Brexit, Williams believes Skoda is exceptionally well-placed to continue to strive for growth.

"The market goes up and down all the time, but if you build your foundations on long-term sustainable business you can insulate yourself a bit from what is going on and that continues to be my strategy, to continue to develop that part of the business to make sure we have a good structure moving forwards," he told BusinessCar earlier this year. "2016 was good but this year will be even better."
