Date: 06 September 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Fleet management company SMH Fleet Solutions has announced it is on track to finish building a new facility by the end of October.

The firm claims the new £16 million, 40,000ft2 site is one of the largest investments in the UK fleet market, with the new centre sitting alongside the company's current headquarters.

SMH also has facilities in Bolton, Bedford, Gloucester, Throgmorton and Worcester.

The new centre in Bedfordshire is said to have storage space for up to 4,500 vehicles, as well as vehicle inspection, logistics and refurbishment facilities, with the firm adding that 200 new jobs will be created by the development by the end of this year.

At present, SMH has a workforce of 300.

"We are delighted that our new facility is on schedule and close to completion," said Martin McAuley, managing director at SMH Fleet Solutions. "It is the culmination of our dream of providing the vehicle fleet industry with the most advanced facility, one of its type, anywhere in the UK or Europe."
